Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe
Superior Strength & Corrosion Resistance Combined
Duplex stainless steel pipe features a microstructure combining approximately equal proportions of austenitic and ferritic phases, delivering roughly double the strength of conventional austenitic stainless steels while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. This unique metallurgical structure provides superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking, exceptional toughness, and enhanced resistance to chloride-induced pitting and crevice corrosion, making duplex pipe ideal for aggressive offshore and chemical environments.
Common grades include 2205 (UNS S31803/S32205) and super duplex 2507 (UNS S32750), offering progressively enhanced corrosion resistance for increasingly demanding applications. The higher strength allows for thinner wall construction, reducing weight and material costs while maintaining pressure ratings. Duplex pipe serves oil and gas production, offshore platforms, chemical processing, desalination plants, and pulp and paper industries where the combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness provides significant advantages over conventional stainless steels.
